Maria Kuipers

“I work in an intuitive and meditative way with the intention of exploring my unconscious in search of those significant moments of revelation and reconciliation. I connect with my feelings whilst choosing spontaneously from a variety of materials and techniques, aiming for material presence and emotional depth. Using a layered approach, building surfaces, editing, reworking, reflecting, and reinstating, I attempt to create rich paintings that portray a sense of personal histories, spirituality and mystery.”

Major influences can be attributed to artists such as Antoni Tapies, Doris Salcedo, Ben Nicholson and Alberto Burri.
