Mark Whenman
“I have enjoyed working in the screenprint medium loosely translating the photographic
world I am used to working in, into a fine art piece, creating something wonderful and
unique that’s very distantly related to some colours and shapes that were originally
captured through a lens. Each work takes on it’s own direction within the process of
translation.”

From an early age Cornwall-based photographer Mark Whenman has been developing his own
singular approach to art, eschewing the traditional art school route for a career
progression that saw him further his own techniques and discover his own sources of
inspiration. This individual eye led to an acclaimed exhibition that saw him capturing for
posterity his childhood memories of a Brighton that has been rendered obsolete by the
modernisation of the city. With Artizan Editions he has produced original work that marry
the painterly finish made possible by traditional screenprinting to the formal structure
of the photographic medium.
