A brief update for all Original Print collectors.
It was a busy year in 2007 and amongst other things we moved to our new workshop. It's a good
space, and we are looking forward to creating many new Original Prints here. We are very
excited about our projects for 2008 and thought we'd share some of these with you!\
We've recently been working with the Brazilian 'Choque Cultural' group creating screenprints
to accompany their recent British exhibitions with 'O Contemparary'. Members of the group
include; Speto, Titifreak, Andrei Müller, Daniel Melim, Kboco, Silvana Mello, Zezão, MZK, and
Carlos.
Here are some of the group signing prints at our new workshop
We are looking forward to exhibiting work at the Royal Academy of Arts, Modern Works on
Paper, from 31 January - 3 February where we'll have pleasure in hanging Bridget Riley's
screenprint 'Wall Painting 1' and Gerald Laing's brand new screenprint 'KM' (Kate Moss). Also
look out for young artist John Simpson's move to encompass screenprint in his emotive new work,
influenced by Munch's writings. Email us if you want a ticket. (As long as we have some left.)
We will also be showing some of Richard Walker's 'London Remixed-Senate House'.
1 - They come in editions of one, but there are 100 images
2 - They are about creation, decay, image, after-image and recycling
3 - They celebrate imperfection and encourage spontaneity
4 - They remix the original image like vintage Jamaican dub
5 - They cluster together, fall apart and sometimes live alone
6 - They dissolve architecture into a fluid state of mind
7 - They are anti-reproduction, but pro-multiplicity
8 - They enjoy Jim Dine, Dieter Roth, Peter Greenaway and King Tubby
9 - They fill a yawning gap in an imaginary market
10 - They are all about pure thought and muddy thinking
Here are a few examples:
If you live further North, we're looking forward to showing our original screenprints in
Harrogate at the new Northern Art Show, from 21- 24 March.
During the May 2008 Brighton Festival, the Castor & Pollux Gallery, will be hosting our show
of original prints - watch this space - or contact us for further information.
Good news for all you 'Cow Man' fans John Marshall has been to see us and we are starting a
new Original Screenprint with him, this month.
Katty McMurray is also busy painting separations for her next group of work with us, and
Martyn Brewster is also currently working on two new pieces.
Sadly, Vanessa Rossouw will be leaving our grey damp climate for the warmth and light of
Cape Town (who could blame her) and a new job. Wishing her lots of success, and luckily for
us she will still be keeping our web site going.
